Frank Joseph Kunich

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Frank J. Kunich, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Frank passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Born on March 24, 1950, in San Pedro, California, to John and Florence Kunich, Frank was a lifelong resident of the community that he loved. He attended Leland Street School, Dana Junior High School, and graduated from San Pedro High School with the Winter Class of 1968.

Frank inherited his mother’s creative talent in floral design. He enjoyed a fulfilling career as the owner of Flowers by Florence. From his teenage years until his retirement in 2016, Frank brought beauty and joy to countless weddings, funerals, proms and special occasions. His creative spirit and dedication touched the lives of thousands.

April 2025 was a particularly meaningful month for Frank, as he joyfully celebrated his 75th birthday, his wife Suzanne’s 70th birthday, and their golden wedding anniversary.

A proud and devoted “Papa”, Frank found great joy in supporting his grandchildren, attending their baseball, basketball, softball and soccer games with unwavering enthusiasm. He was their biggest fan.

In his leisure time, Frank enjoyed golfing, solving crossword puzzles and cultivating his garden - a source of great pride. He experienced great joy in sharing the fruits and vegetables he grew each year. He also looked forward to the annual “30th Street Reunion” with his lifelong friends. His sense of humor and infectious laughter were beloved by all who knew him.

Frank is survived by his wife of 50 years, Suzanne; son Frank and daughter-in-law Zora; and his grandchildren Marko and Mila. He is also survived by his brothers John (Barbara) and Mitchell (Angie) Kunich; his sister-in-law Teri (Fred) Sardisco; and his brother-in-law Frank (Karen) Kostrencich. He was a beloved uncle to many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with a rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Green Hills Memorial Park. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, followed by interment at Green Hills Memorial Park.

Frank’s legacy of love, laughter and generosity will live on in the hearts of all that knew him.
