Frank Edward Caro, age 77, of Whittier, California passed away on January 3, 2019 following a long battle with cancer. Frank, also known to many as Bunky, was born on June 22, 1941 to Frank and Marceline Caro in Los Angeles, California. He attended Compton High School where he was a star baseball player. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on July 27, 1959. On May 10, 1962, he received a Good Conduct Medal and Rifle Sharpshooter Badge. Frank often reminisced of his deployment in the Philippines and Hawaii, where he played baseball and cared for his troop's mascot, a bulldog. He discharged on July 26, 1965 as a Field Artillery Battery Man. Frank was employed at Norris Industries, Sears and General Electric. In 1995, he embarked on a new career, as he started his own company, Hotel Motel TV Repair Service. He proudly worked until his passing and would always say "it like a hobby." Frank was married to his wife Becky for 53 years, whom he lovely referred to as 'Ms. Becky.' Together, they raised their three children, Tony, Bandi, and Candace. In 1981, Frank moved his family to Whittier, California where he lived until his passing. With his family, Frank enjoyed taking RV trips around the country. During these trips, he taught his children how to swim, hike, and enjoy nature. Occasionally, he would take trips to San Diego to visit his cousin Oscar. Most of all, Frank enjoyed camping by the beach and going to river with his sister Norma and friends. Along with camping and exploring new areas, Frank loved gambling. His favorite game was blackjack. He never turned down an invitation to visit the casinos at the state-line with his extended family, Karen and Mike Fugate.
Frank is survived by his wife Becky; son, Frank "Tony" Caro of Whittier; daughters: Bandi Caro of New Orleans, Louisiana and Candace Caro of Tacoma, Washington; brother Gilbert "Wally" Caro and wife Irene of Hesperia, California; sister Norma Garcia and husband Marcello of Chino Hills, California.
A viewing will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA on Monday, January 14, 2019 from 4:30PM to 8:30PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 2:00PM at Green Hills Memorial Park. A reception to celebrate the life of Frank will take place immediately following the funeral services.
