Eugene "Gene" Simeoni

Gene was born on July 22, 1925 in San Pedro, California where he was raised and spent his wonderful life. He passed away in San Pedro, California on April 10, 2017.
Gene met and married the love of his life and the girl next door, Georgia Mataya, in 1965 and they spent 50 wonderful years together raising their family.
He is preceded in death by his parents Mary (Barrango) Simeoni and Pietro Simeoni, his loving wife of 50 years, Georgia, and his brother, Sam. Gene is survived by his loving and devoted daughters, Gina (William) Sanchez, and Cathy (Adam) Storr, of San Pedro, his 6 grandchildren, Nicole Comparsi, Connor Storr, William Sanchez, Mason Storr, Julia Sanchez, and John Sanchez, several nieces and nephews.
He was a commercial fisherman for many years and later worked as a mechanical engineer for various canneries on Terminal Island until his retirement.
Gene lived a full life and enjoyed his family who will dearly miss him. He was gifted mechanically and loved building 1923 Model T Ford Roadsters. He also enjoyed spending time in his canyon and was the ultimate handyman. He will be remembered for the sweet, kind, gentle, loving man that he was.
The family will have a funeral service for him on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 9:00am at Green Hills with burial to follow.
