Ernestina Rivera Alarcon — lovingly known to all as Erna — passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 11th, 2026, at the age of 91, surrounded by the family who adored her. She was born on February 23rd, 1935, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and from her earliest days she carried with her a deep sense of faith, devotion, and quiet strength that would define her entire life.
Erna married the love of her life, Jose Antonio “Tony” Alarcon, on June 25th, 1952. Together they built a marriage rooted in love, partnership, and their shared Catholic faith. Tony preceded her in death in 2014, and the family takes comfort in knowing they are reunited once again.
A woman of remarkable work ethic and dedication, Erna served as President of Johnson’s Alignment, Inc., where she began working in 1973. She remained committed to the business and the people it served for more than five decades, continuing her work faithfully until her passing.
Above all, Erna’s life was centered on family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great‑grandmother, sister, aunt, and matriarch whose presence brought warmth, steadiness, and love to every gathering. She cherished her close relationship with her sister‑in‑law, Jean, her many nieces and nephews, extended family, and her best friend and companion, Ida Alba — always making room in her heart and home for those she loved.
Erna is survived by her three children:
Steve Alarcon and his wife Michele, and their daughter Kristina Holland (husband Bill) and their daughter, Virginia.
Lorraine Carver and her husband Michael, and their children:
Justin Jones (wife Cynthia)
Jonathan Jones (wife Michelle) and their daughters, Tony and Ava
Jason Carver (wife Katherine) and their children, Bradley and Mallory
Pamela Vigil (husband Gabriel) and their daughter, Graciela
John Alarcon and his wife Lori
She is also survived by her beloved siblings, Benny Rivera and Fay Rivera Moore, who remained close to her throughout her life.
Erna’s legacy is one of unwavering faith, deep family bonds, and a lifetime of hard work and generosity. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her devotion to those she loved, and the quiet, steady way she supported and uplifted her family. Her faith guided her throughout her life, and it brings comfort to know she is reunited with Tony in the presence of the Lord.
Her absence leaves a profound emptiness, but her memory will continue to guide and comfort all who were blessed to know her.
