Ella Boren, age 94, of Torrance, CA, passed away on September 24, 2023. She was born on January 24, 1929, in Chester, Montana, to John and Anna Keldrauk, immigrants from Crimea who were of Estonian descent. Ella was a loving wife and a great mother to her three children. After the death of her father in 1942, the Keldrauk family relocated to Southern California, settling in Venice. Ella graduated from Venice High School and went on to lead a fulfilling life.
In 1948, Ella met her future husband, William Boren, at a hot rod meet at El Mirage Dry Lake. They were married in 1953 and remained together until William's death in 2014. Ella was an adjudicator at the California Employment Development office in Torrance, where she dedicated her career to serving the community.
Ella was an avid and talented seamstress. She made most of her daughter Karen's clothes, as well as many quilts and wall hangings. She also enjoyed camping with the family, boating, and fishing off the coast of Southern California and at various lakes and rivers, including Lake San Antonio, Lake Piru, and all of the Colorado River lakes.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Boren; son, Robert Boren, and his wife Laura Boren; grandson Thomas Boren, his wife Nicole and great grandsons Landon and Asher; Aaron Boren, his wife Jennie and great granddaughters Elliot and Jade; grandson Jeffery Boren and his wife Samantha Boren; and grandson Peter Boren. Ella was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Keldrauk, her husband William Boren, her son Lewis Boren, her sisters Elvina and Loreida, her brothers John Jr., Walter, Alex, Charles, Rolland, Arnold, and Gerald, and her daughter Karen's partner Larry Armstrong.
A memorial gathering will be held at the family home in Torrance, California, starting at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 14th, 2023, to celebrate Ella's life.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a charitable organization of your choice in Ella Boren's memory.
