It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Elda M. Werner. Elda passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, at the age of 87, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was surrounded by the love of her family and the gentle care of the Torrance Memorial Hospice Team, to whom we owe our deepest gratitude for their unwavering compassion and support.

Born on February 18, 1939, in New York, New York, Elda was the cherished daughter of Anthony and Martha Masci, who predeceased her. Growing up in a close-knit family, she was guided by the values of kindness, generosity, and love—principles that she carried with her throughout her life and imparted to those she loved.

Elda graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Los Angeles, California in 1956, setting the foundation for a successful career as an executive secretary for renowned companies such as Volvo Group, Saab, and St. Ives US.

In April 1973, Elda married the love of her life, James F. Werner. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Elda's love extended to her children: Fred Riedel (Donna), Donna Johnson (Tom, deceased), Vickie Werner Mesias (George), and Julie Werner, who were the pride and joy of her life. Her heart further expanded with the arrival of her grandchildren, Amy Fashinell (Tyler), Scott Jory (Jennifer), Billy Riedel, Melissa Mesias Hatfield (John), and James Mesias, each of whom brought her endless happiness and joy.

A member of Mary Star of The Sea in San Pedro, California, and an active participant in Al-Anon Family Groups, she touched the lives of many with her gentle spirit and unwavering support. Her passions for cooking, reading, and taking scenic walks were expressions of her love for life and the beauty she found in everyday moments.

Elda is also survived by her beloved sister, Antionette "Cookie" Werner (Roger, deceased), with whom she shared a lifetime of memories and a bond that transcended time and distance.

Remembered for her kind, generous, and fun-loving nature, Elda had a unique ability to bring warmth and joy into every room she entered. Her laughter was infectious, and her love knew no bounds. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and resilience that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

A private memorial service to honor her remarkable life will take place at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Elda's memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
