Edward Ignacio Cervantes, affectionately known as Eddie, passed away on November 19, 2025, in Torrance, California, at the age of 73. Born on December 9, 1951, in Long Beach, California, Eddie grew up surrounded by the vibrant culture and community of the area that would eventually shape his life.

Eddie dedicated a significant part of his professional life to the maritime industry, working as a Longshoreman with ILWU Local 13 from 1984 until 2004. Following this, he transitioned to become a training instructor, where he continued to share his extensive knowledge and experience with others for the next twenty five years. His commitment to his work was reflective of his strong work ethic and determination to provide for his family.

Beyond his professional achievements, Eddie was a proud veteran who served in the United States Army as a medic during the Vietnam War, having been drafted straight out of high school in 1970. He completed his service honorably in 1973. The values he learned during this time influenced his loving nature and deep sense of loyalty towards his family and friends.

Family was always at the heart of Eddie’s life. He enjoyed attending family gatherings and parties, where his great sense of humor and infectious laughter brought joy to those around him. He deeply cherished the moments spent with his loved ones, creating lasting memories that will be treasured by all.

Eddie is survived by his beloved wife, Theresa Cervantes; his children, Edward "Eddie" (Isabelle) Cervantes, Regina (Carlos) Tapia, and David (Alexandria) Cervantes; as well as his grandchildren, Adrain Morales, Eddie "Junie" Briones, Alexis Cervantes, Soraya Cervantes, and David "Bubba" Cervantes. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Oliver Briones, Benjamin Briones, Mateo Salgado, and Evangeline Salgado, who brightened his life and filled his heart with love.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Cervantes and Consuelo Cervantes, whose memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

A Funeral Service to honor Eddie's life will be held on December 9, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Green Hills Mortuary & Memorial Chapel, located at 27501 S Western Ave, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. The service will provide an opportunity for family and friends to come together in remembrance and celebration of a remarkable life.
