Earl W. Francis, 91 passed away peacefully at his home. He was born in Belle, Missouri and was a longtime resident of Torrance, California. He is survived by his wife Adriana Francis; children, Beverly Francis-Langford, William T. Francis, and Linda Francis-Large; siblings Russell Francis, Shirley Pennington along with nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Earl was the pre-flight mechanic on the P-38J "Droop Snoot" aircraft a secret World War II project in 1944. In 1945 he built a flying car and with an experimental license "it flew!" He was hired on at American Airlines in 1953 and retired in 1993. He received the Charles Taylor award for 65 years of Aviation Safety and was a permanent fixture at Torrance Airport.
Services will be held Friday, August 3, 2012 2:00 p.m. at Green Hills Memorial Park with a 3:00 p.m. reception at Rolling Hills Covenant Church.
