Doris Dana passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, at the age of 93, at her daughter Diane's home in Kona, Hawaii.

Born on August 5, 1932, in Oyster Bay, New York, Doris lived most of her life in Palos Verdes Estates, California. She was married to Deane Dana, who served four terms as Los Angeles County Supervisor for the 4th District (elected in 1980, 1984, 1988, and 1992). The couple met at a dance in Hoboken, New Jersey, while attending Stevens Institute of Technology and later relocated to the West Coast.

Doris was a devoted wife and an active member of the community. For many years, she ran the Republican Campaign Headquarters in Palos Verdes, where she was known for her tireless support of her husband's public service and her dedication to local causes. She was always cheerful, positive, and deeply involved in helping others.

She had a zest for life and excelled at everything she touched. Doris loved organization month-long family camping trips every summer, was an avid long-distance swimmer and water skier, and rekindled her passion for the piano later in life. After purchasing an electric piano at Costco, she played constantly and even bought pianos for all her children's homes so she would always have one available when visiting.

Hawaii held a special place in her heart. She traveled there to visit her daughter Diane before the pandemic and never left. Diane lovingly cared for her mother until the very end.

Doris is survived by her four children - Deane Dana Ill, Margie, Diane, and Dorothy - along with six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Deane, who passed away in 2005.

She will be remembered for her bright spirit, her generous heart, and the joy she brought to everyone around her.
