Dennis Johnson

Dennis, the son of John and Augusta Johnson, was born May 9, 1936 in Mountain Lake, Minnesota and passed away Monday, December 29, 2014 at his home in Torrance, California. He had fearlessly battled cancer for over 15 years and had been a resident of Torrance for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mimi. Dennis is survived by his devoted children, Diana M. Johnson, and Steven D. and wife, Sandra E. Johnson; his sister, Deloris Kispert, and other relatives and friends. Dennis enjoyed a career that revolved around his lifelong love of aviation, and had almost 40 years of dedicated service to Western and Delta airlines, where he was known as a perfecting and master mechanic. This career sent Dennis around the country and to other parts of the world where he flew to address the most difficult aircraft repairs. He was also deeply and passionately involved with serving in the Teamster's Union and represented his fellow employees diligently. Upon retirement Dennis was almost more active, taking leadership roles in the West Coast Chapter of the Delta Pioneers retiree association, and being selected to serve as a Commissioner on the Torrance Airport Commission. A private Memorial Service for our Dennis will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes.
