David Yu Akimoto

David Yu Akimoto of Gardena, California, passed away on Wednesday, May 6th, 2026, at the age of 34, leaving this world far too soon.

David Yu Akimoto, lovingly known as Yuchan by family and friends, was born on September 26th, 1991, in Torrance, California, to Yoko and Hiroshi Akimoto. A devoted son, father, brother, and friend, David lived his life with a full and generous heart. He is survived by his mother Yoko, his daughter Ariya, and many beloved family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

David loved his family with a rare and unwavering devotion. He remained faithfully by his mother’s side throughout his life and offered her constant support. His daughter, Ariya, was the light of his life—his sunshine, his joy, and the very reason he breathed. His love for her was boundless and unmistakable to all who knew him. He loved his daughter with all his heart.

Known widely as a “good guy,” David carried a warm smile, a kind heart, and an open embrace wherever he went. He was a friend to all and helped without being asked. His gentle spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand touched countless lives. David could always be seen wearing a dodger hat and a smile spreading joy to those around him. He had many interests but above all else, David loved his family. They were his purpose, his pride, and his greatest happiness.

Please join us in a Celebration of his life on Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 5:00 to 8:30 pm in the Green Hills Memorial Chapel, and the Memorial service on Sunday, May 31, 2026 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. also in the Green Hills Memorial Chapel located at 27501 S. Western Ave. Rancho Palos Verdes Ca, 90275
