Celebrating the Life of Darlene Adelle Hooker McIntire (1932–2026)

On July 25, 2026, our beloved Darlene Adelle Hooker McIntire entered into her eternal home to be with the Lord and Savior she loved so dearly. She was 94 years old.

Darlene lived a life that was a beautiful testimony to God’s grace. From her early days in San Pedro to her later years in Torrance, her life was defined by her devotion to her family and her faith. For over 60 wonderful years, she walked hand-in-hand with her husband, Scott, creating a household where love and faith were the foundations.

To know Darlene was to know true hospitality. Her door was always open and her table was always full. Whether it was her own children—Bruce, Judy, and the late Danny—or the swarm of high school kids from church and school who treated her house as their second home, Darlene had a gift for making everyone feel welcome. She wasn’t just a mother to her own; she was a "second mother" to many of her children's friends, feeding both their appetites and their souls.

Her passion for the Lord was most evident in her work with children. Through her years teaching second-grade Sunday School at North Redondo Chapel and hosting the Good News Club in her home, Darlene planted seeds of faith in countless young lives, teaching them about the love of Jesus through her own kindness and encouragement.

Darlene leaves behind a legacy of 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandsons, and a community of people who were blessed by her gentle spirit. Though we miss her deeply, we find peace knowing she is finally resting in the arms of her Savior. We look forward to the day we see her again.
