Daniel James Mcconohy

Dan McConohy passed away peacefully with family by his side, at Little Company of Mary, San Pedro, Ca on January 30, 2022 after a brief illness.
Dan grew up in DeWitt, Iowa on his family's farm. Dan made regular visits back to the Midwest to visit his family who all meant so much to him.
He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas "Walter" & Dorothy (Quackenbush) McConohy, and his two older brothers Dale & Doug McConohy.
Dan is survived by his wife Mercedes and two daughters Kelly (Illinois) & Danielle (Nor Cal) McConohy, siblings LaVonne Falconeri (Texas), Joan Magee (Illinois), & Joe McConohy (Wisconsin), as well as many other relatives and friends.
Dan had a passion for cooking; he would share recipes and meals with family, colleagues and neighbors. He was an avid reader of news and books. He occasionally contributed to the opinion section of local newspapers. He was a member of the Elks and donated blood regularly to the American Red Cross.
He recently retired after a long career in metallurgy, including sales within the aerospace industry, he loved his work and his colleagues were like family to him.
Services for Dan will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park, Rancho Palos Verdes, Ca. Visitation will be February 28th 4:30-8:30pm and a Rosary at 7pm. A service will be held at the Green Hills Memorial Chapel on March 1st at 9:00am.
The Salvation Army was a favorite organization of Dan's. In lieu of flowers the family would ask that you donate to the Salvation Army.
