Obituary of Carol Jean Black Randall

Carol Jean Black Randall, a longtime Torrance resident, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025. Carol was born on November 12, 1941, in Walnut, Bureau County, Illinois, the daughter of Harlan Keith Black and Nina Lucille Heward.

She is survived by her sons David Larry (Kathy Lynn) Limoges and Dale James (Amy Kathleen) Limoges; stepdaughters Debra Renae Randall (Robert William) Leinweber and Vicki Lynn Randall (Michael) Wolpert.

Her grandchildren include Robin Nicole Limoges (Chris) Walowski, Amber Lynn Limoges (Ernest) Wike, and Joshua Cole Limoges. Step-grandchildren are Carissa Beth Leinweber (Joshua) Bohm and Nicole Denise Leinweber Maier.

Carol’s great-grandchildren are Sabrina Lynn Wike, Audrey Cherie Wike, Gwenivere Rose Walowski, and Charlotte Lillie Walowski. Step-great-grandchildren are Hannah Sophia Bohm, Ethan William Bohm, Aaron Joshua Bohm, Olivia Renae Bohm, Nathaniel James Bohm, Adelaide June Maier and Evelyn Mary Bohm.

She is also survived by her sister Chrysi Lynn Black.

Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bruce James “Jim” Randall Jr. (January 2020), her parents, Harlan Keith Black and Nina Lucille Heward her brother Ronald Dale Russel, her stepmother Virginia “Ginnie” Black, as well as her grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

Carol moved to California at about four years of age and spent most of her life along the coast. She lived first in Santa Monica, then in Torrance from about 1953 until 2002, when she and Jim relocated to Fallbrook. They returned to Torrance in 2015.

A devoted genealogist, Carol spent countless hours researching her family history—traveling across the United States and Europe to collect documents, photographs, and stories. She also found great love of cultivating orchids in her home greenhouses.

Funeral Arrangements

A simple cremation has been chosen in accordance with Carol’s wishes. Graveside services and placement of ashes will be held privately for family members at Green Hills Cemetery Churchyard, Plot 285, Space C, in Rolling Hills, California, on November 8, 2025. White Doves will be released in her honor.

Carol requested that the following songs be played in memory of her and Jim:

  • Can’t Help Falling in Love – Elvis Presley
  • Unchained Melody – The Righteous Brothers
  • I Will Always Love You – Whitney Houston

Carol will be remembered for her deep love of family, her devotion to preserving their history, and her gentle spirit.
