Carl Robert Faulkner, Jr. died unexpectedly on February 26, 2026 at his residence in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. He was 80 years old and is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Faulkner (Beason).

Carl was born on September 15, 1945 in St. Petersburg, Florida to Carl Robert Faulkner, Sr. and his wife Mary Jane Faulkner (Carter). He grew up in Los Angeles and Palos Verdes Estates in a home built by his father, spending much time boating to Catalina. After attending two years at Harbor College, he enlisted in the US Navy. He shipped out in December 1966 to Okinawa where he spent two years in the Construction Battalion as a steel worker.

While overseas, Carl married Dianne Stockton in 1967, whom he had met in Catalina. In 1970, they welcomed Carl Robert Faulkner, IV into the world, followed by Christy Ann in 1974. Following his honorable discharge in 1971, he and his family lived in Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach where Carl made surfboards and worked part-time as a laborer/ carpenter. Carl became interested in concrete while performing side-work for other sub trade crews and eventually became self-employed specializing in concrete and grading work. He and his family moved to Rolling Hills Estates around 1978 where he kept busy in this growing community.

In 1984, Carl and Dianne divorced, and later that year he married Barbara, an English teacher for Torrance Unified School District. They lived in their current home in Rancho Palos Verdes for all 42 years of their marriage, most of this with their beloved parrot, Ipper Bird. Carl enjoyed home improvement, diving, painting, jewelry making, photography, telescopes, and entertaining friends at their home. He and Barbara also enjoyed their home in Mt. Pinos, where Carl became proficient in astrophotography. After selling their second home in 2005, they enjoyed their timeshares in Maui and Las Vegas.

Carl is survived by his wife, Barbara; his son, Carl; his daughter, Christy Augello; two grandchildren, Anthony and Victoria; his sister, Bonnie Dill; and his brother, Richard Faulkner. His remains will be interned at the Riverside National Cemetery following the memorial service.
