Buddy Culbertson passed away at his home in Palos Verdes Estates, California, and his spirit was released to explore the universe. Bud was born December 22, 1942 to Cub and Eva Culbertson in Everett, Washington, and the only son of 3 children. He graduated from University of Texas, Austin in 1967 with a degree in Aerospace Engineering.


In 1967, he began his Space career with NASA where he made important contributions to the Apollo and Space Shuttle Programs. In 1983 he left NASA and moved to Palos Verdes to join TRW where he was notably recognized for his technical excellence and leadership skills and was selected Technical Fellow in 2004. Diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in January 2011, he retired in September 2011 to focus his energy in battling this dreadful disease.


Bud is survived by his wife and daughter, and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives. Bud was preceded in death by his parents and older sister.


Friends and relatives may visit the family on Saturday from 9:00 am until 12:00 noon at the Villetta Room at Green Hills Mortuary and Memorial Chapel on 27501 S. Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. Memorial service will follow at the Green Hills Memorial Chapel with Chaplin Rudival Niere officiating.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society and/or Wounded Warrior Project.
