Bob Jerry Kopecek

Bob Kopecek, 67, longtime resident of San Pedro passed away unexpectedly on July 19, 2025. Bob was born on March 12, 1958 and raised in Palos Verdes with his brother, Joe and sister, Paula. He was a graduate of Palos Verdes High School and earned his Bachelor of Science from UCLA. He participated in the marching band at both schools. He bought his house in San Pedro in 1985 and raised his family there. He was passionate about home improvement projects and was always working on something around the house. An Industrial Chemist by trade, he spent 44 years in the workforce, with 42 of those years at Dubois Chemical, formerly Milacron.

Bob was an avid musician and windsurfer, and was often seen on windy days at Cabrillo Beach with his friends. He played many instruments including the saxophone and clarinet and enjoyed writing songs.

He deeply loved his family and was very proud of his daughters who both graduated with Engineering degrees. He is survived by his wife, Kelly Kopecek, daughters Kala and Karisa Kopecek, son in law Macklin Turnquist (Kala), and mother Carole Kopecek. A service for Bob will be held at Green Hills Historic Church at 10am on August 8th.
