Betty A. Johnson Spinosa

Betty Johnson Spinosa passed away at Torrance Memorial Hospital on the morning of May 30, 2024 at the age of 90. With her family by her side, she ascended peacefully into Heaven.

Betty was born in San Pedro on March 25, 1934 and graduated from San Pedro High School in 1952. Betty is preceded in death by her mother and father, Minnie and Paul Biazevich, granddaughter Briana Johnson, and her sister-in-law Gerry Biazevich. She is survived by her husband, Jim Spinner Spinosa, her children Cliff (Dianne) Johnson, Mike (Sari) Johnson, Sue (Mike) Sestich, Jimmy and Natalie Spinosa; her grandchildren Meagan (Mike) Galosic, Johnny Sestich, Payton Spinosa, Nico Scognamillo, Evann Grierson, Devon, Jonah, Zachary, Samuel and Hannah Diaz, and Andrew, Bianca, Briana and Aaron Rodriguez and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her twin brothers Paul and Nick (Maureen) Biazevich, cousin Louie (Pauline) Bozanich as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Betty truly loved the times spent together with her family - whether it was a dinner, a party, or a trip - she loved it all. She was lucky enough to celebrate her 90th birthday at a party at her house in March with her closest family and friends.

Betty was a welfare secretary for the ILWU Local 13 for many years and spent the last 20 years of her working career as a legal assistant for a local law firm specializing in Workers Comp. under the Longeshore Act. Betty’s favorite things were music, dancing, reading, crossword puzzles, UCLA, Notre Dame, and of course the Dodgers. Betty lived a long and happy life and will be truly missed.

Visitation will be held at Green Hills Cemetery 27501 Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275, on Monday, June 17, 2024 from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Her funeral service will be held at Mary Star of the Sea Church on Tuesday, June 18th, 2024 at 10:30 am. Burial to follow at Green Hills Cemetery.
