Barbara Jean Vitalich 1943-2018
6/26/1943 - 12/10/2018
Barbara Jean Vitalich passed away in her home December 10, 2018. Barbara, also affectionately known as “Mrs. V” or “Auntie B” to many, was a resident of San Pedro for 54 years. She was married to her husband Andrew Joseph Vitalich for 39 years until Andrew’s passing in 2004. Her parents, John Nelson and Jean Ruth Conshafter, preceded her in death.
Barbara graduated from Narbonne High School and attended Humboldt State University. She was briefly a school teacher at Mary Star Elementary in San Pedro and worked 24 years at Vons supermarket in Redondo Beach where she was a popular well-loved retail clerk.
Known for her humorous outgoing and loving nature, Barbara’s family was her life. She never missed any of her two sons’ sports games, proudly cheering encouragement with a big smile. In her retirement years Barbara took great joy being an integral part of her two granddaughters’ lives. Passionate about her love of Jesus Christ, Barbara travelled to the Holy Land and was baptized in the Jordan River. Barbara was also a big animal lover who cherished her pets.
Barbara was one-of-a-kind, an extremely thoughtful and giving grandmother, mother, and friend who will be greatly missed. We are comforted knowing she has now met her best friend Jesus and is reunited with her husband and parents in Heaven.
Barbara is survived by her two sons Greg and Mike (Zulma); granddaughters Marina and Amanda Vitalich; her brother John (Diana) Conshafter of Wenatchee, WA; nieces Jana Craft, Jackie Johnston, Stacy (Jeff) Carter, and nephew Todd Vitalich. She also leaves behind many cherished lifelong friends. We would like to express our gratitude to all our family and friends who have helped us get through this most difficult time.
Thank you for your love, prayers and support.
Services will be Monday December 17th at 11:30am at Green Hills Memorial Park Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes.
