Asako Uda Ushigome

Asako Ushigome, age 90, of Gardena, CA passed away Thursday morning, November 20, 2025, at home as she wished. She was born February 23, 1935, in Kobe, Japan.

Asako is survived by three daughters, one son and two sons-in-law, Mae Ushigome of Pasadena, Kim Ushigome of Washington DC, Roz Gorton of Los Angeles, Civ Ushigome of Washington state, Norman Wong of Washington DC and Ted Gorton of Los Angeles; and a grandchild. She also leaves many other family members in Japan and friends who will miss her dearly.

‍She was an avid gardener, nature and animal lover, and a member of Seicho-No-Ie in Gardena. She enjoyed reading, traveling, sightseeing, playing the harmonica and spending time with her family and friends.

Memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2025, at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Best Friends Animal Society, The Nature Conservancy or any nature, animal, or wildlife non-profit.
