In Loving Memory of Antuono Pesce
His steadfast devotion to God remained a source of strength and comfort throughout his life, reflecting the deep faith and Catholic traditions that were so important to him.
Antuono Pesce, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, October 12, 2026, at the age of 100.
Born on May 14, 1926, in Ischia, Italy, Antuono was the son of Giovan Giuseppe and Maria Antonietta Pesce and the fourth of seven children. A proud son of Italy, he carried throughout his life the cherished values of faith, family, hard work, and tradition.
After spending some time working in Australia, Antuono returned to his beloved Ischia, where he married the love of his life, Ilda Margherita, on October 27, 1957. Together, they built a life centered on love and family and were blessed with two children, Maria and Giovan Giuseppe (Joe).
With the hope of providing a bright future for his family, Antuono immigrated to the United States with his wife and children, settling in San Pedro, California. A dedicated and hardworking man, he worked as a welder at Todd Shipyard, taking great pride in his craft and providing for his family through his skill, determination, and perseverance.
His life was a testament to the enduring values of his Italian heritage and his Catholic faith.
A devout Catholic, Antuono’s faith was the foundation of his life. He prayed daily, faithfully watched daily Mass, and was a proud member of the Italian Catholic Federation. His steadfast devotion to God remained a source of strength and comfort throughout his life, reflecting the deep faith and Catholic traditions that were so important to him.
Above all, Antuono treasured his family and the time they spent together. He enjoyed visiting with friends, preparing meals, and tending to his beloved fruit and vegetable garden. Whether gathered around the table sharing a home-cooked Italian meal or enjoying the simple pleasures of tending his garden, Antuono found happiness in life’s everyday blessings. His love of family, warm hospitality, and deep connection to his Italian roots were hallmarks of the life he lived.
Antuono was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Ilda Margherita, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and devotion. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Carmela, Rosa, and Anna, and his brothers, Salvatore and Raffaele.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Maria (Ed) Espenido, and his son, Giovan Giuseppe (Laura) Pesce; his cherished grandchildren, Ashley (Ronnie) Doss, Anthony Pesce, and Amanda LePage; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Josiah, Cameron, and Lily. He is also survived by his brother, Benito (Ersilia), of Connecticut, as well as several nieces and nephews.
At 100 years of age, Antuono leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, perseverance, and unwavering love for his family. His life was a testament to the enduring values of his Italian heritage and his Catholic faith. The traditions he cherished, the meals he shared, the friendships he nurtured, and the love he gave so freely will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will remain a blessing to the generations of family who follow in his footsteps.
May the Lord welcome Antuono into His eternal kingdom, grant him everlasting peace, and reunite him with his beloved Ilda Margherita. May he rest in the loving arms of our Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Antuono’s honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in support of the children and families they serve.
