Antonio (Tony) Montoya, beloved husband and father, died on May 21, 2026, at the age of 92 in Torrance, California
Born on May 22, 1933 in Tulare California to Faustino and Maria Salazar Montoya, he grew up in Tulare and had to leave high school in the ninth grade to financially support his mother and sister.
In his early twenties, Tony moved to Huntington Park, California where he met the love of his life, Vera Zueck at a dance in 1955, They married on September 29, 1956 and together they made their home in San Pedro, California where they raised three children. Tony and Vera celebrated nearly 70 years of marriage. He spent 40 years on the waterfront as a longshoreman, crane operator, dock boss and ship boss. He retired in 2003
Outside of work, Tony was known for his unwavering devotion to his family and friends, traveling anywhere Vera booked a trip, rooting for the Dodgers, Rams and UCLA Bruins. He was an active member of Mary Star of the Sea Parish and the Elks Club of San Pedro.
He is survived by his wife Vera, his children Elisa, Mark and Mario, seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters
