Listen to Obituary

Alfred Espinoza, of Wilmington, California, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 in his home, with his beloved wife by his side and surrounded by family.

He was born on June 20, 1942, in Morenci, Arizona, to Magdalena and Telésforo Espinoza. He was the tenth of twelve children. At the age of six, he moved with his family to Ventura, California, and later to San Pedro, California, where he graduated from San Pedro High School in 1961.

In 1962, Alfred married the love of his life, Miriam, and together they built a beautiful life and family. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Miriam; their three children, Alfred Jr. (Carmen), Sandra, and Alex (Roxsanne); his eight grandchildren, Richard, Frankie, Carmen, Rayline, Julio, Shiloh (Valerie), Samuel (Melissa), and Enrique; and his four great-grandchildren, Gia, Ronin, Arabella, and Mateo.

He was a hardworking and God-fearing man who was deeply dedicated to providing for and caring for his family. After eighteen years of service, he retired at the age of 59 from U.S. Borax.

Those who knew him knew how much he enjoyed playing golf, watching his USC Trojans and LA Rams with a bowl of menudo, taking yearly family vacations to Las Vegas and camping trips in La Jolla. He also loved listening to live music and people watching with a good drink, ending long days at the L.A. County Fair at Mariachi Village singing with family, and later in life enjoying cruises to Mexico.

His generosity was legendary. Whether it was offering food to every homeless person he met or the joy he felt taking family and friends, especially those who had never been, to Disneyland or the Redondo Beach Pier for seafood, he always went above and beyond for those he loved and cared about.

Alfred was a man of great honor, respected and loved by all those who knew him. A proud husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, his impact and legacy are immeasurable. He will be missed and remembered for eternity by those he leaves behind.
