John Anthony Capozza, beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, and Grandfather passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, in Torrance, California. He was born to Frank Capozza and Filumina Capozza on May 17, 1931, in Stamford, Connecticut. He served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal during the Korea War as a medic from January 1951 – October 1953. He married Emilia Gertrude Fiala on June 13, 1954, at Union City, NJ at St. Michaels Monastery. John and Emilia knew each other from the age of five. They lived in Stamford Connecticut after marriage and then moved to Inglewood, CA in November 1956. They purchased their forever home in Torrance, CA where they resided until their passing. They were married for 45 years. They had one son John Anthony Capozza Jr. When he first came to California he worked for Culver City Marble where he had the opportunity to work on many famous homes such as William Randolph Hearst. He then worked for Aerospace Corporation from 1960 – 1996 and started as a gardener and retired as a maintenance plumber. He was very social and enjoyed being around people where he could tell his many funny jokes. He loved fishing, going to his cabin in Johnson Valley, and working on many home projects. He was a loving person who always wanted to help neighbors and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Patsy, and his beloved wife Emilia. He is survived by his son John, daughter-in-law Kathy and 2 grandchildren Jennifer and Kristina.
A Memorial Service in his honor will be held on Saturday, August 28th, 11:30am at Green Hills Memorial Chapel.
